MUD Jeans

Any alternatives to buying clothes? Leasing is becoming more popular to move away from the ownership economy and foster circularity.

The Dutch brand MUD Jeans is the master of recycled Jeans and has become known for the 'Lease A Jeans' fashion concept.

The brand's mission of changing the fashion industry has started from the most popular item: a pair of jeans!

You have two options:

  • You can lease your jeans paying a monthly fee and, after one year, you can either decide to keep your item or to switch it with another pair. Your old pair will be recycled to create a new pair of jeans for the next consumer;

  • You can buy directly your pair of recycled jeans.

Jeans are one of the dirtiest garments out there. Due to its volume the denim industry has a big impact.

On average people buy two billion pairs of jeans each year. Less than 1% of materials used to produce clothing is recycled into new clothing.

To produce one pair of jean MUD Jeans uses 1,500 litres of water, compared to an industry standard of 7,000 litres per jeans.

MUD Jeans is carbon neutral. 9kg of CO2 are emitted during the production of one pair of MUD jeans. This is 61% less than the industry standard.

Over the past three years MUD Jeans saved 12,000 jeans from landfill and incineration and turned them into new denim.
